A Brief Lawn Mowers Buying Guide - 4 Things To Consider

Not too long ago, I was at a local hardware store and overheard another customer talking to an employee about buying a new lawnmower for her husband. That is when it hit me, not everyone knows how to buy a lawn mower. So, I decided I was going to write a lawn mowers buying guide that was easy to follow but still informative enough that almost anyone can buy a lawn mower that meets their needs.

The first thing that needs to be told in my lawn mowers buying guide is, not all lawn mowers are created equal. With this being said, you need to understand that a cheap model lawn mower is likely going to have a hard time cutting grass in a terrain that is not flat.

Obviously, most people do not have a flat plot of land so you need to look at only models that are going to be able to mow your lawn. Dont waste your time looking at something that is not going to make your lawn care easy.

Here is a list of things to consider when looking for a lawnmower:

 1. The grass type. Basically, if you have coarse grass with a lot of large weeds you are going to need a lawnmower that can chop the weeds just as easily as it cuts the grass.

 2. The amount of land you have to be mowed. If you have several acres of land, you more than likely will not be happy with a push mower and you will not be able to use an electric mower and have the yard completed in one day.

 3. Are you going to want to have a bagging system on your mower? The bagging system allows the clippings from the lawn to be retained and then dumped where the mulching system allows the clippings to be spread back onto the lawn . This is a personal preference. However, most bagging systems can be taken off of the mower to allow both features to be utilized.

 4. What type of power are you looking for? Self propelled lawn mowers are the most popular because they are easier to maneuver around, can go up slight hills or inclines with little effort from the person mowing the lawn. Electric mowers are ideal for the environmentally friendly person, but they are not good for larger lawns because they have a cord. However there are rechargeable electric lawn mowers if you are insistent upon being environmentally friendly. Keep in mind, the charge does not last long enough to do large lawns over  an acre.

Now that you know the differences in lawn mowers and their performance you should find it easier to buy one that meets your needs. This lawn mowers buying guide should be useful in determining the type of lawn mower you need for your yard. Comfort and affordability are essential in buying a lawn mower, but you need to know what you are looking for before the salesperson sells you the most expensive lawn mower in stock that doesnt meet your needs.
